Formula One's 21-race calendar is approved

ST. PETERSBURG, Russia (AP) Formula One's 21-race calendar for 2019 has been approved, with Melbourne as usual hosting the season-opening Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park on March 17.

Governing body FIA said after a meeting of its World Motor Sport Council in St. Petersburg on Wednesday that 11 races would be held in Europe, five in Asia, four in the Americas and one in Australia. Read More...

World champion Hamilton wins season-ending Abu Dhabi GP

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates (AP) World champion Lewis Hamilton coasted to victory from pole position at the year-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday, and in doing so equaled his personal best for a season with his 11th win of the campaign.

Having already secured a fifth F1 title, the British Mercedes driver beat Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel at the Yas Marina circuit to secure the 73rd win of his career. He is contracted to Mercedes for the next two years at least, giving him a realistic chance of matching Michael Schumacher's F1 record of 91 GP wins. F1 reaches new deal with Pirelli as tire supplier until 2023
