Vegas extends Tuch for 7 years, $33.25M

LAS VEGAS (AP) The Vegas Golden Knights have signed forward Alex Tuch to a $33.25 million, seven-year extension with an annual salary cap hit of $4.75 million.

General manager George McPhee announced the contract Friday, which ties defenseman Shea Theodore's seven-year deal for the longest the Golden Knights have given out. Tuch is now signed through the 2025-26 season.

The 22-year-old had 37 points on 15 goals and 22 assists last season. Tuch had 10 points on six goals and four assists in 20 playoff games as Vegas reached the Stanley Cup Final in its inaugural season.

Coyotes' Dvorak out with torn pectoral

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) Arizona Coyotes center Christian Dvorak is sidelined indefinitely after having surgery Friday to repair a torn pectoral muscle.

Dvorak has injured last week during a rehab skate for an unrelated injury.

Couture has hat trick as Sharks roll

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) The San Jose Sharks have been struggling to score on the power play early this season. Splitting up star defensemen Brent Burns and Erik Karlsson to put them on different units helped do the trick.

Logan Couture had his third career hat trick and the Sharks scored three times on the power play to beat the Buffalo Sabres 5-1 Thursday night in their first game back from a five-game road trip.

Murray blanks Leafs in return, Pens win

TORONTO (AP) Matt Murray and the Pittsburgh Penguins slowed down Auston Matthews and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Murray made 38 saves for his first shutout of the season and Pittsburgh snapped Toronto's winning streak at five games with a stifling 3-0 victory Thursday night.

Stamkos ends drought, Wings stay winless

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) Steven Stamkos and the Tampa Bay Lightning completed a successful opening stretch at home.

Stamkos scored his first goal of the season, Andrei Vasilevskiy made 29 saves and the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Detroit Red Wings 3-1 on Thursday night.

Landeskog scores 3 as Devils lose first

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) Colorado squandered a chance at victory on the start of its East Coast swing, and Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog wasn't about to let it happen a second time.

Landeskog scored three goals, the last of which put Colorado ahead with 3:22 remaining, and the Avalanche beat the previously unbeaten New Jersey Devils 5-3 on Thursday night.

The New York Islanders decided to follow his lead, with Filppula scoring two goals on two shots to help his team snap a two-game road losing streak with a 7-2 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday night.

Byfuglien scores in return as Jets win

WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) Dustin Byfuglien returned to the Winnipeg lineup and helped carry the Jets to a victory.

The defenseman had a goal and two assists in a 4-1 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday night after missing the previous two games with an upper-body injury.

Oilers top Bruins on Draisaitl's OT goal

EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) The Edmonton Oilers were one of the final teams in the NHL to play their home opener, and they made the most of their home ice advantage.

Leon Draisaitl scored in overtime to give the Oilers a 3-2 victory over the Boston Bruins on Thursday night.
